Brakes and Tires
Two of the most important safety items on your car are the brakes and the tires. Our auto mechanics provide brake system service and tire repair to ensure that your brakes and tires always work for you.
Being able to slow down or come to a complete stop at a moment’s notice will help to avoid an incident or accident. Improperly working brakes will not do the job they are designed to do and will not be as effective when needed, especially in a panic stop situation.
Your cars brake system consists of multiple parts that work together to bring the car to a stop. When a car is in motion it has a lot of kinetic energy. In order to stop the car, you have to get rid of the kinetic energy. Your cars breaking system does this by using the force of friction to convert the energy to heat.
When you put your foot on the brake pedal to stop, a lever pushes a pin into the master cylinder (filled with hydraulic brake fluid) that pushes that fluid through the brake lines to each wheel causing the brake caliper to press the brake pad against the brake disk. The rubbing of the pad against the disk converts the kinetic energy into heat. If any part of that system fails, it impedes your ability to stop your car.
Tire failure while you are driving can be catastrophic. If you are driving at high speeds, cornering or coming to a stop and the tire blows out it can cause the car to go out of control or just plain leave you stranded.
There is no way to tell exactly how long a tire will last. There are so many variables, climate, road conditions, driving habits and the amount of care that’s put into your tires. The life of your tires can be impacted by your car's suspension and braking systems.
We offer full tire service to ensure your tires in good working order.
