You don't hear the term drive line often, but this is an important system of your car or truck. The drive line contains the components and parts that convert engine rotation to power at the wheels. We offer service to keep this system on your car working well.
Drive Line Components
Drive line components are the axles, shafts, flexible joints, gear boxes, and related parts. The exact set up differs on different makes and models of cars and trucks. In all cases, unless serviced, these components will eventually break.
There are solid axles and independent axles. Solid axles are generally used on rear wheel drive and independent axles on vehicles with front wheel drive.
The gear boxes contain lubricant. Because the gears are exposed to high heat, the lubricant becomes less effective over time and gears, bearings, and other components can become worn or damaged.
Drive Line Service
Exactly what components need service and at what mileage depends on your specific car or truck. These services normally become due within 30-60,000 miles. At Dulles South Chantilly Automotive, we always use the manufacturer guidelines.
